The Hyundai Santa Fe XLis a satisfying choice for a family vehicle. It offers just the right mix of power, comfort and style. This crossover SUV offers plenty of space for both people and cargo. Its largest model provides three rows of comfortable seating for up to seven passengers.

Since its 2000 release in the market, the evolution of the Hyundai Santa Fe may confuse some buyers. There are actually two versions of the Santa Fe. The Hyundai Sante Fe XL is offered in two trim levels; SE and Limited. SE models have 18-inch alloy wheels, foglights, a rear spoiler, roof rails and windshield wiper de-icers. While the Santa Fe Limited includes these features, but also switches the second-row of bench seating for captain chairs, reducing maximum seating to six. Both the SE and Limited models can be upgraded with Hyundai's Ultimate Package to add a sunroof, xenon headlights and LED tail lights or to the Premium Package for 19-inch wheels, keyless entry, power liftgate and auto dimming rearview mirror.


Power and Performance:

The Hyundai Santa Fe XL is powered by a direct-injection 3.3 liter V6 engine that outputs 290 horsepower and 252 lb-ft of torque. This powerful engine provides a robust towing capacity of 5,000 pounds. Four-wheel drive models offer superior fuel efficiency ratings of 12.9 L/100 kms in the city and 9.4 L/100 kms on highways, while all-wheel drive models provide 13.0 L/100 kms in the city and 9.7 L/100 kms on highways. Hyundai Sante Fe also offers rapid acceleration and precise steering. There are three effort settings available for drivers; comfort, normal and sport.


Interiors and Special Features:

Standard interior features on the base model include; full power accessories, air-conditioning with second and third-row rear vents and controls, tilt and telescoping steering wheel, eight-way power driver seat with four-way power lumbar, heated front seats and a 40/20/40-split sliding and reclining second row with a 50/50-split flat-folding third row.

On the technology front, Hyundai Santa Fe XLhas a standard rearview camera, Bluetooth phone and audio connectivity, six-speaker audio system with CD player, HD radio, satellite radio capability, USB/iPod integration, auxiliary audio input and a 4.3-inch touchscreen. It also comes with Hyundai's BlueLink telematics system which provides remote access, emergency assistance, theft recovery and geo-fencing.

Aside from the rich feature set, the Hyundai Santa Fe XLis also well-appreciated for its spacious interior. With all seats in use, the cargo bay behind the third row is 383 litres of volume. With the third row folded, it grows to a sizeable 1,158 litres. And, with the second row down, the total cargo space is a whopping 2,265 litres.


Safety features:

Hyundai Santa Fe XL has a number of standard features including; antilock disc brakes, traction and stability control, front seat side airbags, side curtain airbags and front seat active head restraints. Options include; rear parking sensors, blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alerts.

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) rated Hyundai Santa Fe XL "Good" in the moderate-overlap frontal off-set, side impact and roof-strength crash tests. Its seat and head restraints also garnered a "Good" rating for whiplash protection from rear impacts.
