Discover a small car with big ambition with the Ford Fusion. Higher than a Ford Fiesta and with greater cargo space, there's more comfort and room to relax. Top performance and handling and a generous trim completes the package.
Ford Fusion: The Larger Compact Car
The Ford Fusion is one of the next generation of small hatchbacks and if you think this looks reminiscent of the Fiesta, you'd be right. Ford has taken the popular Fiesta design and given it a few tweaks such as an increased riding height, plus space inside to make it much roomier. Under the hood, there's the choice of either gas or diesel with two different engine sizes: 1.4 and 1.6. A new hybrid model has also been introduced, combining a 2.0-litre gas engine with electric power. With the hybrid vehicles, Ford has included an eCVT automatic transmission while the gas and diesel engines have six-speed automatic transmissions. With a raised roofline and expanded tail, the Fusion offers more space in the trunk than the smaller Fiesta. There's also improved headroom making it a comfortable fit for taller drivers and passengers alike. The driving position is slightly elevated, fitting in with the design for the rest of the car, so entering and exiting the vehicle is easier.
Upgrade for a Sporty Appearance
On the exterior, it's possible to upgrade the trim on the Ford Fusion to include fog lights, body coloured bumpers and alloy wheels which provides a more sport appearance than the basic model. This helps to differentiate it from the smaller Fiesta. The interior has a decent range of features on all trims, but as you move up through the range, there are more luxury extras fitted. These include dual-zone climate control, voice-activated navigation and SYNC3, the Ford infotainment system. For drivers, there are lots of features which makes it an easier and more relaxing experience such as cruise control, parking sensors, a heated steering wheel and rain sensing wipers. Entry level trims are fitted with cloth upholstery but this is upgraded to leather, including the steering wheel for the higher end models.
Solid Security and Safety
Anyone who has driven a Fiesta will find the handling of the Ford Fusion to be broadly similar, with a remote start system and keyless entry either fitted as standard or offered as an upgrade. There is also a rear camera, passive anti-theft system, and perimeter alarm. Front, side and curtain airbags are fitted to all vehicles along with ABS and power steering. AdvanceTrac provides superior stability in all driving conditions while Tire Pressure Monitoring Systems provide early warning of potential problems. If the worst happens, an SOS Post-Crash Alert system is activated, getting you help just when you need it. The Ford Fusion is one of the larger models in the range of small cars from Ford, providing excellent performance and handling together with the convenience of greater space.
