The three-quarter-ton pickup is offered in three cab styles: Regular, Extended, and Crew cab. It has a five-speed manual transmission, with an optional heavy-duty four-speed automatic. Even though this engine won’t give you much power, it’s capable of pulling a fully-loaded truck. However, if you need more power, you can opt for the 8.1-litre V8 or even a more robust 6.6-litre Duramax diesel V8. Both engine options come with the six-speed Allison automatic only, and offer greater horsepower and torque to propel the truck to higher speeds.
When it comes to working, the GMC Sierra 2500 Classic is more than capable of towing heavy loads including enormous trailers. Maximum payload capacity varies with configuration, but whether you go for the Work Truck or the top Luxury SLT, the GMC Classic is always equipped for the task.
