June 05 2020
With its long and established engineering history, the all new designed 2017 Toyota Tacoma offers the complete package. With the convenience of 4-doors and seating for five, owners also have a variety of well-planned model options to choose from. The new Tacoma and winner of the Small Pickup 2017 Canadian Black Book Award continues with the winning Toyota tradition! It is presented with a pronounced aerodynamic contoured design, a powered moonroof and a general perception of motoring luxury, complete with an available black grille surround! Design, is a primary factor with this vehicle as shown with a profiled front bumper and a tailgate spoiler integrated into the sleek rear deck.
From colour-keyed fender flares and a hood scoop to a double-walled merged cargo bed; they are designed to compliment this impact vehicle. This applies to choosing the wheels; between standard 16-inch and 17-inch aluminum alloy. To combat those cold, Canadian winters, the Tacoma provides power-adjustable, heated mirrors, complete with integrated signal lamps.
The cab interior follows the same design format as the exterior; comfortable and refined, with integrated convenience. A dual-zone climatic control ensures Tacoma passengers remain comfortable and if needed, they have the benefit of rear seating heater ducts.
Generally fitted as standard are audio controls on the steering wheel. Riding in a Tacoma is an experience in comfort and convenience, shown in a variety of seat covers, which is open to owner choice. The sensation of comfortable travel luxury is combined with a backup camera and heated front seats. Added to this are features such as rear bench seating complete with under-seat storage. Additional available storage, such as consoles and pocket facilities are also fitted for driver and passenger’s convenience. Key-free entry is another indication of the Tacoma dedication to style, with optional Qi-compatible wireless Smartphone charging, clearance and backup sensors, and much more to satisfy most appetites.
A primary factor in any vehicle is the driving ability of the engine. The 2017 Toyota Tacoma is reliant on tradition. The choice is between a 2.7-litre 1-4 rated at 159 hp, providing a torque of 180 lb-ft, continued from the previous Tacoma model generation and generally unchanged. The alternative is a 3.5-litre V6, offering 278 hp and a torque of 265 lb-ft was an original for the 2016 model year.
The 2017 Tacoma received an overall four stars rating from the NHTSA but was rated with five stars for the side-crash testing and four stars in the rollover test. Fuel economy is always a factor for consideration and for the Tacoma the V-6 automatic, 4-wheel drive version, lists 29 km per 4.5 litres city, 37 km on the highway and 32 km per 4.5 litres combined.
