COLLECTION AND USE OF PERSONAL INFORMATION
Online Tools: Our Websites provide various tools and products to help consumers and other professionals interested in cars or car valuation, such as finding a car, valuing a car, and determining trade in value, average asking price and future value. We collect vehicle and other personal information provided to us when individuals use these tools such as postal code (to provide accurate values and information), vehicle year, brand, model, style, mileage and/or other features and information about your vehicle. We may also collect this data through our tools that are displayed or otherwise provided on third party websites or services, such as dealerships or insurers. We use this information to provide you with accurate information and results, to respond to customer inquiries. We also use and analyze this data on an aggregated basis help develop and improve our products and services.
Connect with a Dealer: If you request to be connected with a dealer or other seller through our Websites, we may collect your first and last name, email address, postal code and/or phone number and any message you provide. We share this information with the dealer or seller so that they may contact you directly by email or phone number to respond to your inquiry.
Business Solutions: CBB offers various business products and services, such as custom data licensing solutions that provide vehicle valuations to dealers and other business customers. To provide these services, we obtain and analyse information on vehicle features and functionality received from vehicle manufacturers, auction houses and other third parties. When our business customers use our products, we may process personal information of their consumers on their behalf in order to provide the products and services such as consumer name, contact information (i.e. phone number, email address, postal code) and vehicle data (including VIN). We rely on our business customers to comply with applicable privacy laws when using our products and services, including to provide any necessary notices or obtain any necessary consents. If you have any questions regarding the personal information we process on behalf of one of our customers, we encourage you to first contact the customer directly and/or review their applicable privacy policy. If you signed-up to receive marketing communications from one of our customers and now wish to unsubscribe, please contact the customer directly.
Account Creation: Business customers may be required to create an account and pay for a subscription in order to access certain solutions and products. We collect customer name, billing address and other business contact information (email addresses, phone numbers), payment card information, dealer license (if applicable) as well as a username and password. We use this information to create, administer and provide access to product accounts, authenticate users, communicate with our customers by email or phone, process payments, and to perform internal analysis in order to help develop and improve our products and services. We strongly recommend that you do not disclose your password to anyone. We will never ask you for your password in any unsolicited communication (such as letters, phone calls or email messages). If you become aware of any unauthorized access to or use of your account, you are required to notify us immediately.
Marketing Communications: We may send marketing communications, market insights, white papers, offers, promotions and updates . If you sign up to receive marketing communications, we collect your first and last name, email address, business name (if applicable), and/or phone number. You can unsubscribe from email marketing communications at any time by clicking the “unsubscribe” link included at the bottom of each email. Alternatively, you can opt-out of receiving email marketing communications and/or telephone communications by contacting us at the contact information provided in the “Contact Us” section below. Please note that you may continue to receive transactional or account-related electronic communications from us.
We may use services provided by third-party platforms (such as social media and other websites) to serve targeted advertisements on such platforms to you or others, and we may provide a hashed version of your email address or other information to the platform provider for such purposes. To opt-out of the use of your information for such purposes, please send a request using any of the methods set forth in the “Contact Us” section below.
Contests and Promotions: If you enter a contest or participate in a promotion, we may collect your name, address, email address, phone number, and any additional information or content required for the contest or promotion. We use this information to administer your participation in the contest or promotion.
Employment: In connection with a job application or related inquiry, you may provide us with certain personal information about yourself (such as that contained in a resume, cover letter, or similar employment-related materials). We use this information for the purpose of processing and responding to your application for current and future career opportunities.
Surveys: From time to time, we may offer you the opportunity to participate in one of our surveys. The information obtained through our surveys is used in an aggregated, de-identified form. We use this information to help us understand our users and to enhance our Websites and App.
Contact Us: When you contact us with a comment, question or complaint through email, telephone, or the contact us form on our Websites, you may be asked for information that identifies you, such as your name, address, business name (if applicable), email address and a telephone number, along with additional information we need to help us promptly answer your question or respond to your comment. We may retain this information to assist you in the future and to improve our customer service and products. Calls to our customer service centre may be monitored or recorded for training and quality assurance purposes. If you do not wish to have your call recorded, please let us know.
SHARING OF PERSONAL INFORMATION
We may share or disclose your information as set out below: Affiliates and Subsidiaries. We work closely with affiliates and subsidiaries within the Hearst family of companies with whom we share your information as necessary or appropriate to operate the Website, App and other CBB offerings.
Dealer and other Business Partners: If you are a consumer, at your request, we will share your name, email address, phone number and a message you provide with a dealer partner or affiliate partner so that they can contact you to respond to your inquiry directly.
Advertisers, Advertising- and Marketing-Related Service Providers and Partners. We may provide your information to advertisers, advertising agencies, ad networks, ad exchanges, marketing businesses, technology vendors and other entities that create, deliver and assess advertising or marketing campaigns, including interest-based ads.
Service Providers: Your personal information will be transferred (or otherwise made available) to certain third parties (including affiliates) that provide services on our behalf, such as hosting the Websites, processing payments, invoicing and billing services, customer relationship management, and providing advertising, analytics and marketing services. Our service providers are only provided with the information they need to perform their designated functions and are not authorized to use or disclose personal information for their own marketing or other purposes. Our service providers may be located in the U.S., Canada or other foreign jurisdictions.

Sale of Business: We may transfer any information we have about you as an asset in connection with a proposed or completed merger, acquisition or sale (including transfers made as part of insolvency or bankruptcy proceedings) involving all or part of CBB or as part of a corporate reorganization or other change in corporate control.
INFORMATION ABOUT OUR WEBSITES AND APP
Visiting our Websites: In general, you can visit our Websites without telling us who you are or submitting any personal information. However, we collect the IP (Internet protocol) addresses of visitors to our Websites and other related information such as page requests, browser type, operating system and average time spent on our Websites. We use this information to help us understand activity on our Websites and to monitor and improve our Websites. We also use IP address to determine your general location in order to provide you with relevant information, such as car inventory for sale near you.
Cookies: Our Websites use a technology called “cookies”. A cookie is a tiny element of data that our Websites send to a user’s browser, which may then be stored on the user’s hard drive so that we can recognize the user’s computer or device when they return. You may set your browser to notify you when you receive a cookie or to not accept certain cookies. However, if you decide not to accept cookies from our Websites, you may not be able to take advantage of all of the Websites’ features.
Analytics: We may use a third-party such as Google Analytics to help us gather and analyze information about the areas visited on the Websites (such as the pages most read, time spent, search terms and other engagement data) in order to evaluate and improve the user experience and the Websites. Third-Party Links/Tools: Our Websites and App may contain links to other tools and websites that CBB does not own or operate, including dealers, sellers and other partners. We provide links to tools and third-party websites as a convenience to the user. These links are not intended as an endorsement of or referral to the linked tools or websites. The linked tools or websites have separate and independent privacy policies, notices and terms of use. We do not have any control over such tools or websites, and therefore we have no responsibility or liability for the manner in which the organizations that operate such linked tools or websites may collect, use or disclose, secure and otherwise treat personal information. We encourage you to read the privacy policy of every tool or website you visit.
App Usage Information & Analytics: As with many applications, certain limited data is required for the App to function on your device. This data includes the type of device hardware and operating system, unique device identifier, IP address, language settings, and the date and time the App accesses our servers. We use this information to help us understand the activity on our App, to monitor and improve our App, and to tailor your in-App experience. In addition, we may use third party service providers to collect analytical information about your use of the App, such as the App features used and time spent on the App, to help us tailor your in-app experience, improve our products and the quality of our App, and to manage and analyze data so that we can better understand our users.
We work with third parties such as ad networks and other advertising companies that use their own tracking technologies (including cookies and pixel tags) on our Websites and App in order to provide you with tailored advertisements across the Internet. These companies may collect information about your activity on our Websites and App and third-party websites (such as web pages you visit and your interaction with our advertising and other communications) and use this information to make predictions about your preferences, develop personalized content and deliver ads that are more relevant to you on third-party websites. This information may also be used to evaluate the effectiveness of our online advertising campaigns.
